The Florida Panthers will face the Edmonton Oilers in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, the National Hockey League (NHL) announced today. The Panthers clinched their spot in the Final with a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday night, while the Oilers defeated the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday night.
This will be the first Stanley Cup Final appearance for the Panthers since 1996, while the Oilers will be making their first appearance in the Final since 2006. The two teams have never met in the Stanley Cup Final before.
The Panthers finished the regular season with a league-best 122 points, while the Oilers finished with 119 points. The Panthers also led the NHL in goals scored, while the Oilers were second in the league in goals-against average.
The Stanley Cup Final is a best-of-seven series, with the first four games being played in Sunrise, Florida, and the final three games being played in Edmonton, Alberta. If necessary, Game 7 will be played in Sunrise. The winner of the Stanley Cup Final will be crowned the NHL champion for the 2023-24 season.
